Since the late 80's brothers Winny Blofeld (Geir Arne Solheim) and Tj Cobra (Trygve Johan Solheim) had been working together musically in many different bands, heavily inspired by the immortal true heavy metal force and sound, always writing and playing their own original songs. For many practical reasons and different interests at the time, Tj started out as a drummer, while Winny was playing bass and doing some singing. It took them nearly 10 years until they realized that they had been concentrating on the wrong instruments, when Winny got behind the drums while Tj grabbed the microphone.

Violent Power, the band, was started in 1992, as one of Tj and Winnys many metal bands and projects at the time, writing a handful of powerful songs, including the controversial "Intercourse With The Devil", which is still in the set today. The brothers later moved on to other things, and it wasn't until 12 years after it's foundation, in early 2004 when they came in touch with 17 year old guitar-wonder Mastur (Sveinung Hjelle) and bass-player Thundergod (Stig Ove Nesbakk), that they dusted off the band-name and continued where they had left off many years before. Following the vision the brothers have had since they first started as musicians, they now had what they had always dreamed of: A true heavy metal band with competent and eager musicians that shared the same vision.

The band themselves has always been fans of the classic metal sound, but has been praised for their original approach on the genre. Musically staying completely true to the old metal style and their influences from the 70's and 80's, while staying on top of technology and taking advantage of all new powerful production methods. Unaffected by outside trend-changes, and defying the "death" of heavy metal in the mid-90's, Cobra and Blofeld's original vision from the 80's never changed, and Violent Power stands as a living proof of the power of true heavy metal.
